Boston Children's museum - October 2010

We used our museum pass again last weekend and hope to use it many weekend's over the winter. The kids never get sick of the different activites and they are out of the house, discovering new things and staying active so we love it too.

Fall 2010

Fall 2010

Fall is in full swing in New England. The leaves are changing, the festivals have started and there are so many fun things to do this time of year. Halloween is in a couple of week although this would be my least favourite event. I admit I don't get the whole Halloween thing, maybe because we didn't grow up with it, it seems kind of pointless to me but I can see its a big deal for the kids so for now I play along. It is also one of those events that is totally unsuited to kids with food allergies and just brings a heap more anxiety and danger into our lives which is another reason I'll be glad when it's over. We are just trying to get out and about as much as possible until the really bad weather starts. The kids can still play outside for a while yet, thank god, and the boys would be happy if they could do that all day everyday. They are such typical little boys all rocks, sticks, dirt, cars, trucks, trains, dinosaurs, balls and sports....so much fun!

Quechee Gorge Vermont

Quechee Gorge Vermont

Quechee Gorge Vermont

There is a nice drive up route 4 in Vermont that we also go on a couple of times a year. It is especially beautiful when the leaves are changing in the fall. It goes through Quechee and Quechee Gorge and onto Wookstock. There is a market place that has quaint stores and also a toy and train museum. The boys really loved the model trains (of course) and had to have a ride of the real train (of course) and mummy was very happy with her homemade ice-cream :) We had a picnic lunch and it turned out to be a very nice fall day outing.

Hiking at Pawtuckaway State Park 2010

If you follow the blog you will see that we visit a lot of the same places each year. There are certain things you look forward to in the different seasons here that become a yearly tradition. We did this hike last year when Jack was a baby but it is fun to see how much they have grown. We let him walk for a while but it was very slow going. Aidan walked for the most part but got bored after a while and wanted to be carried. Probably be another couple of years before we can get back into some serious hiking but it is such a great activity to do as a family and gives the kids plenty of exercise and nature time.
